Reading "Unplugging the Patriarchy", I am reminded (as Molly and Diana also pointed out) that the structures we perceive are illusory.

I was also thinking about why I chose the word "scaffolding" for this thread. For me, scaffolding is something that is put up around another structure - to hold it up, to allow those who are working on the structure to be safe and protected, as well as give them access to parts of the structure they would find difficult to access on their own. It can also be used to protect those of us walking around on the ground below from object accidentally dropped, or to hide the mysterious processes that are going on in the building/rebuilding of whatever it is the scaffolding surrounds.

So, the question I find myself asking now is, who or what is the architect of the current scaffolding? Will we be excited, empowered, elevated by what is revealed when the scaffolding comes down?
