Thank you all for your considered responses

So it's been confirmed for me that we, as a society, need a framework where certain behaviours are agreed on as being acceptable, or unacceptable, which allows the individuals within the society to live relatively peacefully. Up until recently, the source of that framework has been religion and, in some cultures, that is still the case. And, yes, some proponents of religion or government have been too eager to apply more strictures than perhaps is necessary*.

Yes, with the English riots and the "Arabian Spring", there has been a pushback against structures that have become too oppressive. But I can also see attempts by those who want more power to apply their version of the structure. Is this tension worse in this time than it has been previously? My feeling is that it is a reaction against the changes that are coming which will see a removal of a lot of the structures we feel we need now.

How much do YOU still need this structure?

Good question! That one will take some careful thinking.

And, yes, mystics have long taken themselves out of the world. I would argue, however, that even if they've removed themselves from the societal structure, they are still bound by the structures of "day" and "night", as well as the seasons.

Thomas - yes, the period of transition is, literally, the spirit moving out of this 3D existence and the structures that naturally come with it.
