How ya folks doing there?
From the photos, it reminds me of last year here in Sacramento.
We had a lot of fires and the smoke covered the valley for weeks!

Looks eerie doesn't it?? Luna Park in the am of 23rd Sept. It's closed which just adds to the creepiness.

No dust at all here in Melbourne, just rain. We are in the earthquake area though and we didn't feel a thing!

Neville took these in the morning (between 5.30-6am) The sunrise made the scene spectacular
It's a bit blurry, but it's the back of our house from the garden
Our back verandah - you can see the normal colour of the tiles underneath. Love how some specks of dust have reflected back, creating "orbs"
The car. Covered in dust.
Normally you can see the escarpment over the trees.
On his way to work.

So no dust in Melbourne huh....wonder how far spread it was?
I like those pics lilly..... I woke up in the early morning hours and looked out the window, and heard the wind fiercely blowing, the sky was red, and I thought for a moment it was fire, so opened my window to smell, it was not fire, so i went back to sleep..........lol The dust was sooo red, looked really cool scattered everywhere, not so nice to breathe in.....that morning was like a tribute to Michael Jackson with lots of people wearing those white face breathing masks

Thanks all for the replys and pics too!
I remember one time in Hawaii around sunset, the whole sky was red like it was in Australia, only it wasn't because of dust. Just the lighting condition. Everything was like pink, very mystical. |

Lenie, the dust was coming across from the desert in SA, through Broken Hill and then across to us. Brisbane and northern Queensland copped it yesterday.
Hey Jim - was that because of volcano plumes I wonder?

No, and I'm not sure what caused that to happen. It was a cloudy day, then the sun went down. Where I was on big island, east side, mountains block
sunsets, it was like pink afterglow. Never saw one since.
